Welcome to the Frontpage

My name is Marc Huiberts and I'm the former pipe major of the Red Rose of Lochbuie pipes & drums. I've been playing the bagpipes for almost 30 years now and I've been the director of music in a pipe band for over 18 years in a row. Now I'm focussing more on a solo career in piping.

I am frequently asked to play at parties, weddings and also funerals. So basically I play at all parts of life...!

You can hire me for a gig by sending me an e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it - I'll respond within 24 hours by phone or by e-mail.

Hope to see you soon or as we say in a typical Scottish way:"Slainte mhath..!"

My piping career

I was quite young when I started to play the bagpipes. No, not a wee nipper but it all started in 1980 when I was 14 years of age. I played in a band full-time when I was 14 years. I've been with that band till '87.

From that moment onto 1990 I was wondering around to find a pipe band which suited my needs the best. There wasn't any. So I raised my own pipe band; the Red Rose of Lochbuie Pipes & Drums of which I've been pipe major untill it was time to find new challenges and start new endeavours. Since february 2008 I've been doing solo-work for shows, appeared on national radio with the bagpipes (NCRV's "Knooppunt Kranenbarg" on January 19, 2007), played for both ends of life: weddings and funerals (never a dull moment without a piper, eh...? ;-) ) and also for all kind of parties.

I'm currently training and coaching younger pipers in the art of Scottish music and when other pipe bands need a good marching&discipline drill they hire me to do so.

My personal piping motto is: "chan fios eil agam" which is Gaelic for "Poor is the bagpipe when the piper dies".
