About me |
I started to play the bagpipes in 1982 at the age of 13. I played in a local pipe band full time when I was 14 years. I've been with that band until 1987.
From that moment on to 1990 I was wondering around to find a pipe band which suited my needs the best. There wasn't any (at that moment..!). So I tried several bands a.o. the Ayr Pipe Band Society in Scotland with which I appeared at the '92 Worlds. I raised my own pipe band in 1990 of which I've been pipe major until February 2008. Since then I've been doing a variety of solo work for shows, national radio (Radio 2 "Knooppunt Kranenbarg" on January 19, 2007) and played for many occassion in daily life: weddings and funerals.
I'm currently available as piper for many occassions and when I'm not performing I'm training younger pipers in the art of Scottish music. Apart from that I'm frequently asked for a good marching&discipline drill.
My personal piping motto is: "chan fios eil agam" which is Gaelic for "Poor is the bagpipe when the piper dies".
